TheGandhi Society of Calgary, established in 1999, is a voluntary organization registered in the Province of Alberta.
The creation of a nonviolent and peaceful social and political order, locally and globally, one in which there will be justice in economic relations, respect for human rights, harmony between religions, and dialogue between civilizations.
The Gandhi Society of Calgary exists to contribute towards the realization of our vision, by:
the dissemination of information on the life, the writings, the ideas, and the ever growing literature on Gandhi;
circulating information on what Gandhi Societies such as ours are doing world-wide;
organizing periodic discussion groups, film shows, book discussions, essay competitions in Calgary;
holding an annual dinner-lecture by distinguished experts on themes related to justice, human rights, peace and nonviolence.
